New Server For Weapons Factory Arena! |
|
Ok, seems there is a revival going for the Weapons Factory Arena Mod for Quake 3.
I re-installed Quake 3 and the 1.32 patch, then WFA 3.5b and all the maps, and after some tweaks for widescreen viewing and the network connections, I was off and playing on the new server set up by Fuzion. After fixing a bunch of lag problems which were mostly my settings, particularly my max_FPS one, everything started working correctly and I started learning how to play WFA again. I saved my old config so it was nice having the old taunts and everything. At one point during the evening there were 4 of us playing WFA, alternating one pair on defense and the other on offense. The 4 people playing were myself, New Guy, Fuzion, and TF Tech. It was a lot of fun. It was nice to be back playing a game I played most every night for 8 or 9 years. We are hoping to be able to get 2 full teams to play each other on Sunday evenings, maybe more if there is more interest. So we have 4 players and need 12 for 2 full teams. I think we will get it as I know other people are reinstalling Q3 and WFA now that there is a server available. If anyone is interested, here is a link to the webpage with all the server info, and also all the WFA files you would need to download including the maps. Only thing you must supply is of course Quake 3. http://wfa.wtfnerd.com/ Its good to be back playing Quake 3 and Weapons Factory Arena! |

Duke Nukem Forever Release Slated for 2011! |
|
Finally, the long over due "Duke Nukem Forever" game is being finished and released in 2011.
"Cough" Bull%#% "Cough" you say? No really, this time its true. 3Drealms went belly up and now Gearbox (Of Halflife fame among others) is finishing the game for a 2011 release. Some old school fragging and the famous off color Duke humor is coming back. Single player is suppose to be very long, and it should be for as long as its been in development. There will be multiplayer too but at the moment very little info is available. More info is available here: http://www.3drealms.com/ And here: http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/forumdisplay.php?f=103%22 Now if only I can pull myself away from those World of Warcraft Gnome's I love so much "Hail to the King, baby!" Update November 2011: Ok reviews are in, and apparently they are not good. Duke Nukem will always rock, but this latest version not so much. I have not played DNF yet, and I still would like too despite these reviews. Hopefully I find the game better than what others have said. |

Battlefield Bad Company 2 BETA |
|
I pre-ordered the new Battlefield Bad Company 2 on Steam. That gived me the right to play the Beta for 1 month before the release of the game in March. The scenario is an hypothetic war between Russian and American.
First, if you like FPS and if you like Battlefield, you going to like BFBC2. The graphics and effects are great, and the game play is good. If you are used to play Battlefield, a lot of things are similar to the others BF. What I really like is the progressive scenario where your team need to complete some objectives to be able to progress, making your team to re-spawn closer of the new objectives. There are some class of soldier you can choose when you play: Assault, Medic, Recon and Engineer. Each of them can eventualy choose between a good array of weapons and gears(you need to make pts to unlock new weapons) The Vehicles are cool as usual and made with awesome graphics. They put everything in them. A lot of details like articulate armor track and suspensions, plates and panels. The sounds is cool and you feel really there with all the effect of winds, blowing snows, steam, flash of explosions, yell of team mates or ennemy, everything is there. I really love the sounds of the Russian T80 battletank when you are near and it shot with is main canon. the effect is incredible, you see the Tank suspension work and get down and some steam around it, its great. Another cool thing is all the building, walls etc can be destroyed, hole are created in wall when explosion or high calibers are shot on them, building can collapse with times, tree are falling, and even kill you if fall on your head. For the beta, they only put 1 area to play, in a hivernal Ukrain. But the place is huge and really well made. At the beggining i got some frustration cause i didnt play a FPS since long time, so you can imagine how bad i was and how easily got kill by others players lol After 2 weeks of play, I really improved my skills and im getting better. Im definitively looking forward for March when i'll get my full version http://badcompany2.ea.com/agegate |

Aliens Vs Predator 2010 |
|
This game looks pretty awesome. If its like the 1999 version with updated graphics it will be a blast to play.
Should be out in a few days. Here is a link to the official website, although you will have to do an age verification to view it: http://www.sega.com/games/aliens-vs-predator/ There is a version for the PC. In single player mode you basically have 3 different games, as you can play as a marine, predator, or alien. Game requirements are not too bad. Dual Core cpu and nvidia 8800 level card to play in full glory, although the game does support DX 11 for those with more advanced rigs. |
